What You Should Consider Before Choosing a Dog Kennel

Everyone deserves a relaxing vacation every now and then. Unfortunately, some trips may not permit our four-legged canine family from joining us. Whether you have a vacation planned or a work trip coming up and need someone to look after your dog, we hope that you consider dog boarding with us at Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic. Keep reading below to learn more about our pet boarding services and what we can offer your pup during his or her stay.

Spacious, Clean, & Comfy Facilities - Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic offers your dog plenty of room in our pet accommodation areas. These spaces are maintained and cleaned to the highest standards and are climate controlled for your pet’s comfort. If your dog has favorite toys, blankets, pillows, or bedding that you would like to leave with us, we’d be happy to set these up for you so that your pet feels at home.

Time & Space to Play - Dogs require time each and every day to stretch their legs and run around. Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic offers your dog the time and space needed for exercise! We have a fenced-in backyard where we let out your dog to play every day.

Complimentary Services for Weekday Pickups - If you are planning to pick up your canine companion during a weekday, he or she will receive a complimentary bath, toenail trim, and gland expression! We want your pets to look and feel fantastic when you come to collect them.

You may be thinking, “Why not have someone pet sit while I’m away?” While this is an option you can consider, there are many benefits to having your dog boarded with us. Our team can provide veterinary care if something happens with your dog, help administer any routine medications, keep your dog on his or her schedule, and ensure comfort from the start of the stay until the end. If you live in or around the College Station/Bryan, TX area, we hope that you trust in Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic to board and care for your dog while you are away. There are quite a few reasons why veterinary care is so important. Like humans, animals need to have annual visits to see a doctor to keep an eye on their health. Here are a few things that veterinarians will check: Detecting diseases early - Like cancer in humans, dogs can develop cancer or other fatal diseases as well. It’s important to take your pet to a vet to receive proper veterinary care annually to catch any abnormal growths inside or outside of the body. You can also schedule additional visits to the vet if you notice any strange lumps on your pet’s body at any time. Pet vaccinations - Pet vaccinations will help prevent your dog or cat from getting sick. Your pet needs to be updated on all their pet vaccinations before you board them because sicknesses can be transferred from one dog to another. Contact the cat and dog boarding center you plan to use before dropping off your pet to figure out what pet vaccinations are needed to stay at their facility. Check your pet’s skin and paws - Veterinary care also includes checking a dog or cat’s skin and paws to make sure they are healthy and strong. It’s not normal for a cat or dog to have bald patches in their coat, so a vet will check for that and any other abnormal things. Check your pet’s digestive system - Sometimes veterinarians will request you bring in a stool sample from your dog or cat. The stool sample is to check for intestinal parasites like ringworms, which would require anti-fungal treatment in the form of pills or creams.
